To Live as He Lives

(By Dave)

No day, no night, no moment, no instant absent from the touch of God. A soul on which sin has no purchase. No crevice into which it can creep to rip his hand from the grasp of the Almighty.

A will invincible to suffering though suffering be experienced in full. A love so strong neither treachery, betrayal, torture, nor hate can subdue it. Mercy so great no sliver of his mind or soul is withheld from sacrifice. Every atom, every thought, a consciousness in full, given for the sake of all. For the sake of me. For the sake of you.

To live for others as he lives for them. This is my prayer. To reject sin as he rejects it. To love as he loves. My God, my Savior, give me the smallest measure of your goodness so that I can be for others even a shadow of the bright light you are for me.  Help me God to live as he lives.

Amen

    Beautiful and powerful words.
It is overwhelming sometimes to think about the unconditional love of God. I am sure at certain times, our lives grieve him or the posture of our hearts don’t reflect the recognition of His sacrifice for us, and yet He extends His grace, mercy, and steadfast love to us anyway. Every single day. That we could be a fraction of that, a “shadow” of that to others is a beautiful reflection of His love.

Oh my, so poignant. The phrase “the posture of our hearts don’t reflect the recognition of his sacrifice for us” was a lovely way to express the core of the prayer. We read so much about a person from their physical posture that applying it to the content of our hearts vividly expresses the longing the prayer expresses. Thanks so much for such a thoughtful response. Here’s hoping you, me and other readers will bring a little more of Christ into our expressions with others today. God bless
